BTEC Nationals are said to be the ‘real world’ equivalent of A levels.
Anyone over the age of 16 can take a BTEC National. And with over 220 titles, there should be something for everyone.
They can be studied on their own or alongside A levels, allowing you to complete a varied and rounded set of qualifications. They are also flexible in how you choose to study, either full or part time, so that you can adapt them to your circumstances.
They are the most popular vocational qualification in UK further education and are recognised and respected worldwide.
You can use them to go on to further study
BTEC Nationals earn you UCAS points and are therefore valued by universities, allowing you to go on and take a BTEC HND/HNC or honours degree.
BTEC National Award = 1 A level BTEC National Certificate = 2 A levels BTEC National Diploma = 3 A levels Results for BTEC qualifications are released before those of A levels, so you can confirm your university place before other students.
Or you can use them to start or change your career
Employers value BTEC Nationals highly because they prove that you:
are prepared for the world of work are committed to your chosen career have robust practical and theoretical skills.
Student Progression
BTEC First Diplomas and Certificates offer direct progression on to BTEC National programmes. On completion of a BTEC National, students can progress to a BTEC Higher National or BTEC Foundation Degree programme.
A BTEC First or National award also prepares students for employment in their chosen career.
